Chennai, 02nd June 2019: As a part of SEESHA’s commitment towards hild Develo 30,000 school kits are distributed to children from underprivileged families in rural and urban slum unities across India each year. Each school kit is a useful package with a school bag and over 14 esssential stationary items like notebook, pen, pencils, eraser, geometry box, water bottle etc.
The school kits, which are distributed at the beginning of the academic year, are not only useful for the children in their learning process, but also helps in boosting their self-esteem and keeps them motivated t to go to school throughout the year
The inaugural event of the School kit distribution this year, was organized at Paul’s Indoor Auditorium, Dr. D.G.S. Dhinakaran Road, Adyar, Chennai, in the presence of well-wishers & beneficiaries. Dr. Paul Dhinakaran, Founder – SEESHA, presided over the function and inaugurated the school kit drive by distributing 1000 school kits to the children. Education Scholarship assistance worth Rs. 20.00.000/-for the poor and needy children was also distributed during this function
In addition to the above, assistive devices (Retro-fitment motor vehicle & Tricycle) were presented to differently-abled people and sewing machines were given to 30 women who have successfully completed the free tailoring course conducted through SEESHA women empowerment program. Course completion certificates were distributed to trainees who completed SEESHA’s Tailoring and Compute courses, conducted to support disadvantaged women and youth.
The program was well organized by the staff of SEESHA, a NGO serving the poor founded by Dr. Paul Dhinakaran.
