A Journey Rooted in Humble Beginnings
Founded in 1981 by industrial expert Mr. C.M. Kamaraj, Sakthi Coco Products pioneered Tamil Nadu’s first mechanized coir fiber export unit (Sakthi Coir Exports). Hailing from an agricultural family in Pollachi, Kamaraj utilized his MBA and business acumen to revolutionize coconut processing. Early collaborations (1983) with biscuit manufacturers like Britannia established Sakthi Coco Products’ reputation for high-quality desiccated coconut powder.

Innovation and Expansion
In 2002, Sakthi Coco Products transformed the waste material coir dust into value-added Coco Peat, a soil substitute in horticulture. Developed in partnership with the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU), this innovation propelled Sakthi Coco Products to become India’s first exporter of Coco Peat to Europe and Australia.
In 2003, Sakthi Coco Products became the first Indian company to introduce bottled tender coconut water. Overcoming initial technological challenges with assistance from the Coconut Development Board and the Defence Food Research Laboratory, the company now produces 100,000 bottles/tetra packs daily of its shelf-stable tender coconut water.

Mr. C.M. Kamaraj’s foresight led to his 18-year appointment as a board member of the Indian Government’s Coconut/Coir Boards.
